The Financial Services Providers Register known as FSPR is a financial regulatory body in New Zealand. FSPR opened to accept applications on 16 August 2010. The company headquarters are at Northern Business Centre, Private Bag 92061, Victoria Street West, Auckland 1142, New Zealand.
The main objectives of the register are first to provide an electronic register of Financial Service Providers and to increase the level of transparency of public information related to FSP’s licensed services and their related dispute resolution schemes. Also they have to assist New Zealand to comply with its international obligations to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
The individuals and entities that can register are those who live or have a business in New Zealand or those who are in the business of providing financial services. All those who want to be register have to pass a criminal conviction background check, and those who provide services retail clients will have to join an approved consumer dispute resolution scheme.
